Grants and Funding

As the ConnectingALABAMA initiative moves forward one important issue will be how best to fund the various projects promoted by the regional ACTION teams designed to address issues on both the demand and supply side of the program. For example, on the supply side certain infrastructure development and service delivery efforts in rural areas may require funding beyond funds available through traditional commercial means. Likewise, some of the demand-side initiatives designed to advance health care, education, agricultural and other economic development opportunities may require non-traditional funding to help design, launch and sustain the initiative.

The ConnectingALABAMA team will continue to monitor federal, state and private funding options. The team will continue to support the State of Alabama and the regional ACTION teams in their efforts to secure grants and funds. An initial focus for the ConnectingALABAMA team is on funds being made available through the federal Stimulus programs.
